It is noted that Italian scientists placed the Sars-CoV-2 virus in droplets of water to reproduce the effect that occurs when a person infected with a coronavirus coughs or sneezes and exposed it to UV radiation in different ranges.

During the tests, it was found that exposure to ultraviolet radiation, even in small doses, can cause complete inactivation of the virus.

Klerichi noted that “the sun's rays penetrating into the Earth’s atmosphere in summer can almost completely kill the virus contained in droplets of saliva that occur when coughing or talking to an infected person.”

The results of experiments conducted by Italian biologists and physicists under the guidance of Clerici are of great practical importance. They show that artificial sources of UV radiation, in particular, certain types of ultraviolet lamps, can be used to combat COVID-19 indoors.

“Together with fellow physicists, we are now developing such lamps that can be used to disinfect classrooms before pupils and students arrive there, and then after graduation. At the same time, of course, they will not pose any threat to humans, ”the immunologist added.

Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that in Russia they had successfully completed the phase of clinical trials of the coronavirus vaccine with the participation of volunteers.
