Netflix is going to deprive itself of a little nest egg that it obtained without difficulty. The streaming video platform has decided to automatically cancel the subscriptions of customers who pay for its services without ever looking at anything.

"A very small percentage of our subscribers have not looked at anything in the past two years and even if we facilitate the process of canceling the subscription, with just a few clicks, they did not take the opportunity. So we decided to stop to charge and, in the future, we will do for users meeting the same criteria, "said a financial document issued to shareholders on July 16 and relayed by Numerama .

A process started in May

The platform wants to inspire other services so that the most distracted subscribers are relieved of a few unnecessary levies. "In a world where people are multiplying subscriptions, an automatic billing break after an extended period of inactivity should be normal," it says.

Already, since May, Netflix has been working to warn its paying customers who had not connected to the service for a long time, recalls Numerama . The platform asked them to confirm their wish to always count among the subscribers.
