[SBS News] The Gentiles inside us, 'Multiculturalism'

A junior high school student who died on the roof of an apartment in Incheon on November 13th.

He was reportedly being assaulted by his peers before his death.

Particularly, it was reported that A group was a child of a multicultural family and was suffering from continuous harassment at school.

In our society, the children of multicultural families such as group A are unemployed.

The first black mixed-blood model in Korea, Hyunmin-do, the ordinary college student, Park Bo-hyun, is said to have been teased because he has different skin color or because his parents are migrants.

In a closed space called school, multicultural students become thorough strangers.

According to the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, 10% of students in multicultural families are unable to adapt to school life, and 65% of them say 'they can not get along with friends'.

Some experts point out that the vocabulary of multiculturalism itself reveals discriminatory perceptions spread throughout our society.

Young people who can be a global model, a good elementary school teacher, or an excellent athlete.

However, our society may be tagging their "multicultural" labels to define their identity.
