“The Ministry of Defense and organizations of the defense sector of the economy are granted the right to use the Polessky area for free annually from December 1 to February 28 for conducting combat training events, as well as testing missile weapons and aircraft,” BelTA quotes Lukashenka’s decree.

It is noted that the need for the adoption of the document is explained by the fact that the ranges existing in the armed forces of the republic provide firing (combat launches) and tests of missiles at a relatively short range, and long-range firing at ranges of foreign states is associated with significant material and financial costs.

The Polesskiy site is located in the Olmansky bogs near the border with Ukraine.

The test site was founded in the early 1960s, and bombing was practiced there.
