Kuwait stressed, on Monday, its commitment to stand by the Palestinian people, to reach a just solution that includes the establishment of a state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in conjunction with dozens of Kuwaiti organizations announcing their demand for the adoption of a law criminalizing normalization with the occupation.

In a press statement after its weekly meeting, the Kuwaiti Cabinet said, "The Palestinian issue is central, as it is the first issue of Arabs and Muslims."

The council reiterated its "support for all efforts aimed at reaching a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, which guarantees for the Palestinian people an end to the occupation and the return of refugees."

The solution also guarantees, according to the cabinet statement, the establishment of "an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, on the borders of June 4, 1967, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions, the Arab Peace Initiative and the two-state solution."

The criminalization of normalization

Concurrently, 41 organizations in Kuwait called on Monday, the country's parliament to pass a law "criminalizing" normalization with Israel.

This came in a joint statement issued by these non-governmental organizations, most notably the "Lawyers Association", the "Teachers Association", and the Kuwaiti Economic Association.

The organizations said, "We join our voice to the free Kuwaiti people by calling on the National Assembly (parliament) and the government to quickly pass the law criminalizing normalization with the Zionist enemy."

And she stressed "the rejection of all forms of normalization with Israel or the signing of any peace agreement with it, whatever the reasons."

She affirmed that she "rejects all attempts to drag Kuwait into this stinking swamp, in line with the official and popular Kuwaiti position."

"Our position was, is, and will remain is the rejection of this entity, its rejection, and its recognition of it until the liberation of Palestine," she added.

The statement referred to the Amiri Decree issued on June 6, 1967, which continues to this day, which states that "the State of Kuwait has been in a defensive war since this morning (the date of its issuance) with the Zionist gangs in occupied Palestine."
