August 30, 2020The shooting began in the city center. The gunshots hit a person who died.The clashes saw Black Lives Matter protesters on one side and supporters of US President Donald Trump on the other.
The facts are reported by the police.
The city of Oregon has been an epicenter of protests since police killed George Floyd in Minnesota in late May.
For the shooting he investigates for murder.
Portland police tweeted that a political rally was "sweeping through downtown Portland" and that "there have been some cases of violence between protesters and counter-protesters.
Officers intervened and in some cases made arrests."
Oregon Live reported "clashes" and "moments of tension" between groups, although police did not say if the shooting was related to the demonstrations.
