The Cabinet of Ministers supported the bill on blocking cellular communications in prisons

This is reported by TASS with reference to a copy of the draft official recall of the Cabinet, which was approved at a meeting of the commission.

"The Government of the Russian Federation supports the bill, subject to its completion, taking into account the remarks," the document says.

According to the agency, the bill proposes to give correctional institutions the right to appeal to the operator with a request "to terminate the provision of communication services to legal entities and individuals in cases of illegal use of the subscriber numbers allocated to them on the territory of institutions executing punishment."

In January, it was reported that a group of deputies introduced a bill to the State Duma that makes it possible to disable mobile phone numbers of persons serving sentences in prisons or held in pre-trial detention centers.
