Regarding the posting of slander on the Internet, Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications Matsumoto indicated his intention to proceed with coordination in the direction of submitting a draft amendment to the law requesting business operators to strengthen their responses to the ordinary Diet session this year.

Regarding the posting of slander on the Internet, such as SNS and bulletin boards, it has been pointed out that it is difficult to understand the procedures for SNS and other businesses when the victim requests deletion.

Under these circumstances, Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications Matsumoto said at a press conference after the Cabinet meeting on the 16th, "The distribution of illegal and harmful information such as slander on the Internet is a very serious situation. He indicated his intention to proceed with coordination in the direction of submitting the bill to the ordinary session of the Diet to be convened on January 1.

Regarding the response required of business operators, the expert committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications decided
in advance that ▽ the judgment criteria and procedural guidelines for deleting posts should be published in advance, and ▽ if there is a request for deletion from the victim,
whether or not to delete it. A proposal has been compiled that requires a response in about one week, including an explanation of the reason, and based on this proposal, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications will proceed with the consideration of a
revision of the law.

On the other hand, adjustments are being made in the revision bill in the direction that it will not be included in the revision bill because it may restrict freedom of expression by obliging businesses to delete posts with penalties.
