Maximum precautions in China. The country announced Tuesday that anyone wishing to travel to its territory by plane should now present a negative Covid-19 test before departure, carried out in the five days before take-off. The measure applies to all passengers, regardless of nationality. In practice, it is currently mainly targeting Chinese nationals.

Because since the end of March, China has banned foreigners from entering its territory, unless there is a special exemption. The government's priority is to limit the arrivals of Covid-19 patients. A total of 2,015 so-called “imported” cases have been identified in the country since the start of the epidemic. Most of them are Chinese returning home, against the backdrop of the still virulent international epidemic.

What to do once my negative Covid-19 test has been recovered?

Chinese people will have to download it to an app, and foreigners show it to a Chinese embassy or consulate, the Chinese Civil Aviation Administration (CAAC) said. All passengers are screened upon arrival in China and must spend 14 days in quarantine. As for flights to Beijing, they are forced to first stop in a provincial Chinese city, where health checks are carried out.

Despite the ban on entry of foreign nationals, China has accepted in recent months on its territory some diplomats, employees of multinationals, as well as businessmen and women. China had drastically reduced the number of air links with the rest of the world at the end of March. But it is starting to relax the rules imposed on companies by allowing more flights.

Many Chinese who are currently stranded abroad, however, have expressed their difficulty in returning home, as the price of plane tickets is soaring due to the low number of flights.
