Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been placed in preventive quarantine, his services announced on Monday, justifying the measure by the contamination of one of his team members.

An investigation was launched after an employee in the office of Benjamin Netanyahu tested positive for Covid-19.

"Emergency government" to manage the pandemic

"Even before the epidemiological investigation is completed and to dispel any doubt, the Prime Minister decided that he and his close staff would be in containment," said the Prime Minister's office.

More than 3,800 cases of coronavirus have been officially recorded in Israel, where 12 people have died. After more than a year of political crisis and three legislative ones, Benjamin Netanyahu should remain in power and form an "emergency government" to manage the pandemic, after the surprise rallying of his rival Benny Gantz.
