The performers won the final of the national selection, which was broadcast on Saturday, February 22, the Ukrainian Channel One.

“Ukraine at Eurovision 2020 will be represented by the Go-A group,” announced the host of the contest, Sergey Prytula.

Jerry Hail, KRUT, David Axelrod, Khayat and Tvorchi also fought for the right to represent the country at an international music competition.

In October 2019, the chairman of the board of the National Public Television and Radio Company of Ukraine (NOTU) Zurab Alasania said that participants in the national selection for Eurovision 2020 from Ukraine will not be checked for performances in Russia, despite the existence of a corresponding clause in the agreement.

As reported, NOTU announced the start of the selection for Eurovision 2020 and a change in the rules for participation in this selection. Artists who have been giving concerts in Russia or visiting Crimea since 2014 cannot officially go to the competition from Ukraine.

According to the management of the STB television channel, the broadcaster came to such a decision after last year’s final. This is a scandal involving singer Maruv: during the selection, the jury was embarrassed by her tour in Russia, and after the victory she refused to represent the country at Eurovision because of the “enslaving conditions” of the contract.
