News in Gabon remains dominated by the clean hands operation called "Scorpion", which allowed the arrest of about twenty executives of the higher administration. After a hearing that lasted three days before the Special Court of Justice, several executives were placed under arrest warrant, some were released.

According to a source who requested anonymity, the Special Court heard 21 defendants. 13 people were formally charged and placed under a detention warrant.

Among them, Ike Ngouoni , spokesman for the presidency of the Republic and Christian Patrici Tanasa, political advisor to President Ali Bongo. He is being prosecuted for acts while running the National Hydrocarbons Company.

Two other prominent prisoners , Renaud Allogho Akoué, former director general of the National Health Insurance and Social Security Fund and Ismaël Ondias Souna, former director of the Equatorial Mining Company.

All are prosecuted for embezzlement, corruption, bribery or money laundering.

According to our source, out of 21 people heard, six are relaxed while two others are charged but released on bail. The same source states that investigations are continuing, new arrests in the coming days are not excluded.
