Martin Nilsson is an everyday teacher of memory techniques at the Cathedral School in Lund. Now he can also title himself Swedish champion in memory.

On Sunday, he won the Swedish Championship title during the championship in Lund.

Replace memory system

But the competition was stiff. Everything was settled in the closing branch, where Martin Nilsson was the one who managed to memorize a whole deck of cards in the shortest possible time.

- It was incredible. Fingers shook. It was just that I managed it, he says.

Ahead of the competition, Martin Nilsson has changed his memory system. Something he himself resembles to change golf swing.

- It was one of the reasons why I was not so optimistic about the competition, he says.

"Very memorable"

But the system change proved to be a winning concept. In addition to bringing home the gold, he also set four personal records.

Now a little rest awaits before Sweden's memory champion moves to Umeå to participate in a research project around memory.

- It is expected to be very memorable, says Martin Nilsson.

The silver medal went to Victor Bull from Lund and Emma Andersson from Öjersjö trimmed the bronze.

European Championship races

During the weekend, the European Championship in memory was also decided.

Winner was Andrea Muzii, Italy who also beat two world records. Second place came Sylvain Estadieu from France, who lives in Gothenburg. The bronze went to Sussane Hoppauf from Germany.
