These are the distances where the maximum speed today is 90 km / h, which will now be lowered to 80 km / h. The Swedish Transport Administration made the decision on the speed limits on Monday.

The speed changes are part of the Swedish Transport Administration's so-called zero vision. This means that the authority's goal is that no person should die in traffic. That goal is hoped by the Swedish Transport Administration by 2025.

- Speed is the factor that has the greatest impact on road safety and how many people die, says Sandra Nordahl, Head of Unit National Social Planning at the Swedish Transport Administration.

120 km of road gets changed speed

In total, this year, 120 km of roads around the country will have a changed speed - both lowered and elevated.

In Västra Götaland the speed will change at 19 different distances, of which at eight the speed will increase.

- We only increase the speed of the roads that have the standard that allows an increased speed limit, explains Sandra Nordahl.

The signs will be replaced in early November.
