Johan Thornell lives next to the railway and often uses the crossing.

- This has taken too long.

This should have been done immediately after the fatal accident, he says.

Train drivers warn

After the fatal accident, the Swedish Transport Administration made some safety measures, fences and warning signs were put up.

Even so, train drivers are still forced to regularly warn people at the dangerous crossing.

- They honk at least 3-4 times a week so you can hear that there is something here, says Johan Thornell.

Close to being hit

Barbro Svensson lives in the block of flats next to the dangerous crosswalk that is used extensively by pedestrians and cyclists to reach the nearby grocery store.

Just a couple of days ago, the accident was close.

Was she close to getting hurt when she was about to pass.

- You can't hear the sound of the signal at the barriers further away, so I was very close to being run over, says Barbro Svensson.

Barriers are set

During 2024, in its action plan, the Swedish Traffic Agency has planned to set up barriers at the crossing in Högsby.

- It has taken a little long, but it is great that it is happening, says Barbro Svensson.
