“The statue in Providence was splashed from head to toe with red paint, and a sign saying“ Stop the genocide celebration ”was leaning against the pedestal. “Genocide” was written on its back side with orange paint, the report said.
Earlier, a vandal damaged a bronze statue of “Attacking Bull” on Wall Street in New York. A man hit a statue with a metal object, damaging a bull's horn.
In April 2018, in the US state of Virginia, vandals desecrated the statue of the third US President Thomas Jefferson, writing on the monument “racist” and “rapist”.
In 2017, the vandals also doused the Columbus monument with red paint and left offensive inscriptions on it.
