Batwoman loses her main actress. Ruby Rose, who played the title role in the series broadcast on the American channel The CW - and never seen in France - announced on Monday, via a press release, that she had chosen to leave after the first season, including the last episode was broadcast on Sunday. "I did not take this decision lightly because I have the utmost respect for the comedians, the team and everyone working on this series [tour] in Vancouver and Los Angeles," she writes.

Ruby Rose did not further explain her motivations. According to a source on the American site Deadline, her departure would not be linked to the accident of which she was the victim on the set last September and which required her hospitalization in emergency.

Looking for a non-heterosexual replacement

For their part, the producers [Warner Bros. Television, The CW and Berlanti Productions] thanked Ruby Rose "for her contribution to the success of the first season" while "wishing her the best" for the future.

Batwoman , who has been renewed for a season 2, must therefore find a new main actress. The production has already announced that the role will be assigned to a non-heterosexual actress - like Ruby Rose. Batwoman has indeed marked a turning point on television and in American pop culture since she is the first homosexual superheroine and headliner of her own series.
