Thousands of bank customers in Germany were temporarily unable to pay with their Girocard on Thursday. The exact cause of the failure, which has now been resolved, was initially not known.
According to media reports, customers of other institutions are also said to be affected by outages. Aldi Süd, Lidl, Edeka and Rewe have not yet responded to SPIEGEL's inquiries. The problem has now be resolved, according to the Savings Banks and Giro Association.
