Washington welcomes the nomination of a new government for the Palestinian Authority. Muhammad Mustafa will form the new government, succeeding Muhammad Shtayyeh.

This comes in the wake of a devastating war in Gaza since October 7, which left 32,623 martyrs and 75,92 injured. It is noteworthy that the Prime Minister-designate is not a member of the Fatah movement led by Abbas, but he is an ‘independent’ member of PLO Executive Committee. The US State Department said it looked forward to working with it to promote peace, security, and prosperity.
