Music hall star, Joséphine Baker placed herself in the service of France at the start of the Second World War. Alongside Maurice Chevalier, she sang on the front to boost the morale of the troops during the Battle of France in June 1940.

At the end of the war, she is a hero. She adopts 12 children around the world to found her “rainbow” family and show the world that brotherhood is not an empty word. In 1975, it was her last stand: for her 50th career, she put on a show which retraced her incredible life, from Broadway to the Resistance.
