From our correspondent in Jerusalem,

" I won a brilliant victory and I will not go anywhere ," says Benjamin Netanyahu, who indicates that he intends to remain at the head of his Likud party. The Israeli Prime Minister accuses his rival Benny Gantz and the leader of the Israel Beteinou party, Avigdor Lieberman, of trying to steal his victory through lies and also "anti-democratic legislation".

Lieberman has indeed indicated that he would support a law aimed at prohibiting the candidacy for Prime Minister of any deputy under investigation. In principle, Netanyahu's trial for corruption and breach of trust is scheduled to begin on March 17.

For his part Benny Gantz, the leader of Bleu-Blanc, warns the outgoing Prime Minister against incitement to hatred. The people have decided, he proclaims. It's the end of the Netanyahu era, he adds. Benny Gantz says he is ready to form a government. And he undertakes to do everything to avoid a fourth electoral consultation.

The only possibility for Gantz, in the opinion of all experts, is the setting up of a minority government with the Labor Meretz alliance and the external support of Lieberman and the Arab deputies. An unprecedented fact in Israeli political history.
