TRA's Director of Spectrum Services, Eng. Saleh Al-Musabi, said that the Authority provides free frequencies to protect passengers, ships and safari passengers from risks and to accelerate rescue operations in the event of any air, sea or land accidents. Search and rescue frequencies are free in the country.

He added in a statement on the sidelines of the Board of Excellencies of dealers in the Authority under the title of "wireless services", that there is a complete database between the «Telecommunications Organization» and the National Center for Search and Rescue, including frequencies devices licensed by the body known as the «Wireless Guide», To issue distress alerts, reaching the National Rescue Center, and rescue operations are carried out in case of accidents within a period not exceeding 15 minutes.

He explained that these devices are operating via satellite, which is necessary, since the normal telephone devices do not work efficiently in some desert areas, for example, making search and rescue difficult, pointing to the existence of a law requiring aircraft, ships and safari organizers in the desert areas to provide this Device, to protect them from any emergency risks.

He confirmed that this device is available to individuals as well, and requires aircraft companies and ships equipment for their staff to protect them from risks.

He stressed that the Authority is ready to provide the necessary frequencies for the operation of the fifth generation technology, which he described as a new communications revolution, affecting the lives of people, in light of the high speeds it provides.

He said that there is a plan for the Authority to provide frequencies for the fifth generation, especially with the convening of «Expo 2020 Dubai», and the formation of high committees from various stakeholders, including lawmakers, and operators in the country «Etisalat» and «Emirates Integrated Telecommunications», for Coordination and development of frequency plans, stressing that the UAE will be one of the first countries to apply the fifth generation technologies in the world.

He said that the UAE is one of the countries with the most frequencies in the field of mobile phones in particular, there is abundance in these frequencies, due to proper planning in this area, and rational use of frequencies.

He pointed out that in October, the World Radio Conference in Geneva, which will be the selection of frequencies nominated for the operation of the fifth generation technologies, as each group of countries submit their nominations for these frequencies, and put them to vote.

On the occurrence of interference in some frequencies granted to some quarters, Al-Musabi said that these interventions do not necessarily have to be deliberate, but sometimes due to natural phenomena, due to a phenomenon that exists only in the Gulf region, called wave propagation. In some of these overlaps.
