An accident involving a Lille-Bordeaux TGV and a car left one dead on Sunday morning on a level crossing in Auby, in the North.

The cause of the accident is currently unknown.

The train passengers were not injured.

“The driver of the vehicle has died,” the Northern prefecture told AFP, confirming information from the newspaper

“There were no injuries among the 120 people who were on board the TGV. They were taken care of by buses,” added the prefecture.

An open investigation

The cause of the accident is currently unknown.

“The investigation will determine the reasons for the accident,” indicates the prefecture.

According to the Northern prefecture, the trains which were to pass through Auby are diverted by Lens-Arras and "the level crossing will remain out of service for 24 hours a priori".

“Every means is being implemented to reopen it as quickly as possible.”

A road diversion has also been put in place, according to the same source.
