The death toll from floods in Gard rose to four deaths on Monday with the discovery of the body of a man, undoubtedly that of the father who had been missing with his two children since Saturday evening, announced the Gard prefecture.

The death toll from floods in Gard rose to four deaths on Monday with the discovery of the body of a man, undoubtedly that of the father who had been missing with his two children since Saturday evening, announced the Gard prefecture.

The 40-year-old mother was saved before the car was swept away by the Gardon, in flood, on Saturday evening, on a submersible bridge in Dions, a village north of Nîmes.

The two children, aged four and 13, remained missing on Monday, as well as a man in the town of Saint-Martin-de-Valamas in the neighboring department of Ardèche.
