Fifteen to twenty years, says Michael Spitzbarth, that's how long it's been since he bought sneakers from Adidas or Nike. This makes it an exception, because sneakers from the market leaders are popular worldwide. This is also reflected in figures: In 2021, 47 million pairs of sneakers were sold in Germany.

More than 24 billion shoes are produced worldwide every year, and by no means all of them are sold. Sneakers are hardly reusable, their production is harmful to the climate. And unsold new shoes eventually end up in the trash.

Michael Spitzbarth from the fashion label »Bleed« and Steffen Otten from »runamics« want to change that. In the podcast, they explain the challenge of making sneakers from recycled material, how to reduce their carbon footprint and what a closed recycling loop for running shoes could look like; because they contain even more components than the style kicks.

In addition, the "Climate Report" tells you what each individual can do to continue to wear comfortable shoes on their feet with a clear conscience in the future.
