Until May 2, Alcalá de Henares is transformed into a large Roman market that will transport visitors to the time of the ancient Empire. Next to the City Walls have been installed numerous stalls of crafts, food, blacksmith workshops, leather, goldsmithing, and also exhibitions, children's areas and restoration.

One of the biggest attractions is the Gran Circus Maximus, an authentic historical recreation of a classic Roman circus with chariot races, combats and exhibitions with horses, Roman legions, dance and theater shows. The circus, where gladiators compete to the death in tough tests of skill on horseback or on foot, is held in the Huerta del Obispo, and is the only show in which you have to pay admission. There are two sessions, at 17 p.m. and 19.30 p.m., until full capacity is reached (price: 11.39 euros; reservations here).

The market with workshops of all kinds of crafts, silver, ceramics, costume jewelry ... and food extends along the streets of San Juan and Cardenal Sandoval y Rojas, and has the participation of a hundred merchant stalls, selling sausages, cheeses, pickles, Moorish skewers, sausages, buns preñaos, roast ham ... The restaurant area is located in the Huerta del Obispo, the Pico del Obispo and Plaza de Palacio, with food prepared at the moment and other entertainment activities with theater and music groups. On the same site there are also two large taverns serving portions, grilled meat, salads and many mugs of beer.

The days are animated with parades of mythological characters, acrobats, storytellers and other performances, which run through all spaces from morning to night. The little ones also have a space with mechanical attractions, a children's corner with games, a Roman camp, weapons exhibitions, Roman currency workshops, blacksmithing, leather and goldsmithing and archery activity.
