There is a terrace for every occasion.

The roof of Picalagartos.

Longtails

It is undoubtedly one of the best rooftops in the capital, and one of those that enjoy the best views, on the mythical Gran Vía and in front of the Telefónica building. An ideal place to eat, and to have a delicious cocktail afterwards -it has a wide and very interesting menu- enjoying the sunset. As for the culinary proposal, its executive chef Manuel Berganza tells us that "it is a close menu, in which we give prominence to the good product, with clean flavors, always with a memory of smoke in the background, and adapting traditional techniques to each of our recipes. We want diners to enjoy in our house, because it is a place safe from the madding crowd, since, as it was said in the work of Valle-Inclán, the world is a grotesque. We recommend their gilda, their clams in seafood sauce, their artichokes stewed with garlic, the octopus torreznos, the low loin and any of their rice. Do you want a plus? Sign up for their Sunday brunch.

Designed to share tapas and good gastronomy, it is a new concept of tavern that combines tradition with modernity. The Aparicio brothers delight all their customers by offering a simple proposal based on an excellent raw material. In it, chef Javier Aparicio bets on creativity to create dishes, trying to maintain tradition. In addition to interesting dishes off the menu, among the fixed and indispensable are ham croquettes, torreznos, braised octopus leg, soupy rice, cheek stews or a zucchini coca. And, by the way, let no one leave without trying their patatas bravas, which have enormous fame throughout the city, and whose sauce recipe is the secret.

One of the corners of Florida Park.

Florida Retiro

Located within the popular park of El Retiro, the mythical Florida Park reopens the doors of La Terraza, which as they themselves say, is a "particular oasis inspired by the eastern desert, which invites the public to live delicious and long evenings". With a decoration inspired by the oases of the Eastern desert, and located on the roof above the restaurant El Pabellón, it has a gastronomic proposal, designed by chef Iván Cerdeño, focused on traditional dishes with an avant-garde touch. In its menu you will find basics such as Iberian Iberian croquettes of Iberian ham or Russian salad, which coexist with other more sophisticated dishes such as mussel saam in spiced sauce, or sardine loins marinated with strawberries and tomatillos. It also highlights its international cocktails, with classics such as Bloody Mary, Negroni or Spritz, as well as surprising elaborations such as the Devil, the Russian Spring Punch or the New York Sour.

It is the last place to open in the capital of the group of the Cantabrian Paco Quirós, creator of the successful Cañadío. On its terrace, very quiet to be located in a quiet street, there is always the sun. You will also love it if you are a lover of northern Spain, since eating in this establishment is enjoying a piece of Cantabria in Madrid. It has a perfect menu to share, with delicious starters such as Santoña anchovies, potato omelette, bonito dumplings or Russian salad, and delicious main dishes such as vegetable stew, cod with tomato -"in the style of a lifetime", they define-, hake in green sauce or the mythical meatballs.

Patio de Leones Terrace.

Courtyard of the Lions

With unbeatable views of the Puerta de Alcalá, it is a clear tribute to the Cañí culture. Its creator Jorge Llovet assures that "we wanted to create a traditional tavern that rescues the essence of the most authentic Madrid". The offer of this place is very wide, with dishes for all tastes and depending on the hunger that each one has. It has a section of light dishes, among which there is no shortage of salads, sautéed mushrooms or a thin smoked salmon coca. It also offers pan tapas, with the potato omelette or the brioche de rabo of everything as protagonists, and in the section of main dishes stand out the medallion of sirloin, rice a la marinera or the monkfish with casserole. For dessert, leave room for churros, since they have their own churrería on the premises.

Colloquially known as 'the king of grilled meat', its fame lies in the great variety of breeds and cuts it works. He has more than 14 years behind him, since that day that the Galician Belarmino Fernández Iglesias opened his first store in Brazil. Today it has branches in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia, Chile and Madrid, where they serve excellent pieces of meat such as baby Beef, Ojo de Bife, Sirloin alto del centro or Bife de Chorizo or a kind of tasty churrasco called 'Costelão'. You can enjoy all this on its bucolic terrace, full of vegetation and with very little noise. One detail: do not forget to accompany any meat with its delicious soufflé potatoes.

The gildas of Viceroy.

Viceroy

Work good product and ingredients of extra quality, to make a nod to the north of the peninsula by the hand of chef Carlos Fernández Miranda. It offers as options a selection of tapas to share, among which there is no shortage of canned bonito belly, sea bass in oil from Doña Tomasa, anchovies from Santoña with bread with tomato, anchovies in vinegar, periwinkles, red shrimp or zamburiñas. They also offer a gilda in XXL size based on olive, anchovy, piparra, dried tomato, cod, anchovy and bluefin tuna. But, if this restaurant is known for something, it is for mastery when cooking wild fish, highlighting the viceroy roasted in the oven with a sauce and potatoes. It is a real delight.

Berlanga, rice dishes overlooking the Retiro.

Berlanga

Although it has been open for a few years now, it is still one of the best restaurants to enjoy delicious rice. José Luis García Berlanga, son of the legendary film director, is the architect of this space in whose decoration winks to his father are recognized. A lover of cooking since childhood, he confesses that he has been in the kitchen all his life, even working as a rice teacher at the Alambique Cooking School for 20 years. And, although there are other dishes on the menu, their specialty is rice. In the ranking of the most demanded is that of Senyoret, followed closely by Valencian paella and arroz a banda or black cuttlefish rice. It also has more modern ones such as Rossejat, made with cooked broth and Valencian rice, unlike in Catalonia that they do it with noodles.
