• Snapchat is an application that allows you to share content that is available on an ephemeral basis

  • Notifications are sent by default for any new content available and also for information about what's new in the application

  • It is possible to disable certain notifications from the application

  • To delete all notifications from Snapchat, the fastest way is to do it from the smartphone settings

Snapchat is a social network that allows you to share photos and short videos with loved ones.

Since its launch in 2011, the application has evolved to offer more content.

To the ephemeral content to share with loved ones were added stories, then memories, which make it possible to preserve certain content.

And for each content, its notification: stories from friends, people we follow, friend suggestions, mentions, birthdays, memories, reminders for messages that have not been opened, and even for adding new filters.

Fortunately, it is possible to deactivate these notifications, and even to choose not to receive notifications for the events that really interest you.

Select which Snapchat notifications to disable from the app

Going through the Snapchat app to turn off notifications, you will have the option to select which notifications to turn off and which ones you always want to receive.

  • The procedure is the same whether you use Snapchat on an Android or Apple device:

  • Open Snapchat

  • Click on their photo or avatar at the top left to access the profile

  • Go to settings by clicking on the gear at the top right

  • Click on “Notifications”, in the first section entitled “My Account”

  • Uncheck the notifications you no longer wish to receive

  • Manage story notifications

Stories are photos and videos that can be viewed as many times as you want for twenty-four hours.

The “Stories” menu is accessible by swiping left from the main screen, and includes three types of stories:

    • Friends' stories

    • The subscriptions

    • “Discover”: story suggestions proposed by the algorithm

The accounts for which you will receive notifications when they post stories now appear in the "Selected" list.

The other accounts are in the following list "All friends and all subscriptions": their stories will still be accessible on the "Stories" page, but a new publication will not result in a notification.

  • Open Snapchat

  • Go to the “Settings” menu from the profile

  • Open the “Notifications” menu

  • Go to the bottom of the menu until you find "Stories that I follow"

  • Select accounts to follow

  • Validate the list by clicking on “Done”

  • The accounts for which you will receive notifications when they post stories now appear in the "Selected" list.

The other accounts are in the following list "All friends and all subscriptions": their stories will still be accessible on the "Stories" page, but a new publication will not result in a notification.

    Configure Notifications

Snapchat allows its users to choose how they will be notified when they receive content or stories to watch.

At the bottom of the “Notifications” menu, several options are available:

    • Turn on the screen

    • Flashing LED, for smartphones equipped with it

    • Vibrator

    • His

    • Ringtone, for audio and video calls

These options can be unchecked to make notifications more discreet.

    Disable notifications from device settings

Another way to disable Snapchat notifications is to stop allowing the app to send notifications, through the phone's "Settings" menu.

This menu may also be called "Settings" depending on the smartphone model.

  • Go to phone settings by clicking on the cog icon

  • Look for the “Notifications” menu, either by browsing the menu or using the search bar

  • Go down the list of apps until you find Snapchat

  • Uncheck the box allowing notifications

  • To authorize Snapchat to send notifications again, simply go through the same steps and this time check the box to authorize notifications.
