A man in his 20s who was handed over to trial on charges of taking drugs and participating in distribution at a broadcasting set was given a suspended sentence.

The fact that he showed a will to quit drugs was taken into account.

According to the legal community today (2nd), the 12th Criminal Division of the Daejeon District Court (Chief Judge Na Sang-hoon) sentenced A (23, female), who was charged with violating the Narcotics Control Act, to 3 years in prison and 5 years probation.

He was also ordered to take probation and 40 hours of drug treatment classes.

On February 9, 2020, Mr. A is accused of purchasing and using drugs 20 times over a year, including inhaling a patch containing drug ingredients at a hotel in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.

Mr. A participated not only in drug administration but also in distribution and sales.

Around July 2, 2021, he is accused of selling 150,000 won in remittance and selling drugs containing patches through a taxi driver on two occasions by August of the same year.

It was investigated that Mr. A did this with his acquaintances after learning that a patch could be prescribed if he complained of back pain at the hospital.

In addition, on September 17 of the same year, he smoked marijuana owned by a person whose name was unknown on the set of a contest program of a broadcasting company.

In response, the judge pointed out, "The quality of the crime is not good because it contributes to the distribution of drugs by buying and selling drugs with acquaintances rather than simply taking drugs."

At the same time, he was sentenced to 3 years in prison and 5 years probation, saying, "We took into account the fact that he showed a willingness to take drugs, such as participating in the production of drug-related documentaries."
