A case in which a man who murdered his wife and two sons claimed to have multiple personalities, but was found to be false through scientific investigation by the prosecution and prosecuted for arrest, was selected as an excellent case for scientific investigation.
Today (30th), the Supreme Prosecutor's Office announced that it selected best cases of scientific investigation in the fourth quarter of 2022, which discovered the actual truth using various forensic techniques.
A total of 5 cases were selected as excellent examples of scientific investigation, including the case of the Ansan branch office (Chief Prosecutor Kim Jae-hyeok and Prosecutor Jeong Jae-hoon), who investigated the 'Gwangmyeong Three-mother and Child Murder Case' that shocked society last year.
Suspect A, who was charged with murdering his wife and two sons at his home in Soha-dong, Gwangmyeong-si on November 25 last year, admitted the facts of the crime, but claimed amnesia and multiple personality disorder.
At the time, Mr. A continued his absurd claim by showing the appearance of answering the reporter's question about the motive for the crime, "I lost my memory 8 years ago, and this time I got corona and found my memory in 8 years."
However, as a result of conducting an integrated psychological analysis (clinical psychological evaluation, psychophysiological test, and behavioral analysis) at the Ansan Branch Office, all of these claims by suspect A were found to be false.
According to the prosecution's investigation, Mr. A, who quit his company two years ago, continued to be unemployed and thought that the victims were ignoring him, so he decided to commit the crime.
Based on the results of the scientific investigation, the prosecution confirmed that Mr. A did not show any psychopathological characteristics, found that his claim was false, and prosecuted him for arrest.

In addition, when a 9-year-old child was acquitted in a case of forced indecent assault, saying that 'the victim's statement was inconsistent', the defendant's saliva and semen were confirmed in the victim's items through DNA precision analysis by the Supreme Prosecutor's Office, and at the appeals court, he was sentenced to two years in prison. In the case of the Daejeon District Prosecutor’s Office (Chief Prosecutor Kwon Seong-hee, Daejeon District Prosecutors’ Office Prosecutor Kim Hye-joo and Prosecutor Jeong Kyung-young), who were investigated as much as possible, and in the case of issuing a false tax invoice of KRW 5.4 billion, only the middle book was forwarded, but two people, including the general manager, were arrested through mobile forensics and account analysis. In addition, the Seoul Western District Prosecutor’s Office (Chief Prosecutor Lee Byung-ju, Prosecutor Oh Kwang-il) investigated the case of virtual currency exchange DB manipulation, and supported by the Cyber Investigation Division of the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office for virtual currency analysis. An official from the Supreme Prosecutor's Office said, "The prosecution will research and develop advanced forensic techniques in response to increasingly complex and sophisticated criminal methods, and actively use them in investigations to protect the people."
