Now that

wired headphones

are disappearing from our lives (and audio connections from most phones), choosing a good wireless headset to go with your smartphone is essential.

In recent years, the options have multiplied and there are good alternatives in practically all price ranges, but of all those that have passed through our hands -or rather, our ears-, these are the ones that

have left us with the best sensations.

Sony WH-1000XM5

Physics is physics, and over-ear headphones, with cushions that cover the ears well and large drivers, will always offer better sound and isolation than smaller ones.

Among the larger headphones, our favorites are without a doubt the

Sony WH-1000XM5

.

They have the best active ambient

noise cancellation

that we have tested, a good transparency mode and are very comfortable to use, although the design of this fifth generation is a bit more cumbersome when it comes to folding them for transport.

You can connect with two devices simultaneously and its battery is enough for 30 hours of playback.

If its high price is a problem, the previous version, the WH-1000XM4, is also a very good option.

Nothing Ear (Stick)

We love the design of their case and how light they are.

Just

4.4 grams per earphone

, and yet with a battery big enough to give you 7

hours of playback

.

They don't have active noise cancellation, but they do a good job isolating ambient sound, are good at low frequencies (which is unusual for headphones of this size and price range), and have fast pairing on Android.

They also excel in calls.

Its microphone is quite clear even in areas with a lot of traffic or background noise.

Amazon Echo Buds 2nd generation

Normally, headphones with active noise cancellation tend to be more expensive than those without this feature.

It is to some extent logical because they need more microphones (to capture ambient noise) and more powerful processors.

That does not mean that they are necessarily a luxury.

These

Amazon Echo Buds

offer good active noise cancellation at a fairly contained price.

The touch sensor on the earpiece is perhaps too sensitive and obviously they have the virtual assistant Alexa as the axis of the user experience, but they are almost the only drawbacks that can be put at this price.

119 euro.

AirPods Pro 2nd generation

If you have an

iPhone and use a Mac, AirPods

are generally the best headphones to choose.

The integration that Apple offers in its ecosystem makes them very easy to use, especially when it comes to changing the audio source between devices.

But the second-generation AirPods Pro, in particular, sound incredibly good and offer some of the best noise cancellation and "see-through" mode in small earbuds.

Additional features such as "spatial audio" (virtual 3d surround sound) make them even more interesting.

They are expensive, yes, but they are an excellent investment and are frequently marked down.

299 euro.

Jabra Elite 7 Active

If you do sports, you need headphones that fit well in the ear and that is not always easy with the more compact wireless models.

Ultimately it is something that depends on the physiognomy of each one, but in our experience, one of the best options is the

Jabra Elite 7 Active

, which although they do not have fins or hooks, remain fixed even during intense training sessions.

They have good active noise cancellation, a good transparency mode (especially important if they are used for training in the city, where you have to be aware of traffic) and of course they are resistant to rainwater and sweat.

The accompanying app also has many equalization options.

179 euro.

Soundcore Space A40

They cost less than

$100

and still include many of the advanced features expected of high-end headphones, such as active noise cancellation or support for

HiRes

audio .

Sound quality isn't up to the level of more expensive offerings, especially in the bass, but it's more than acceptable, and they offer 10 hours of continuous playback (50 hours with carrying case recharges).

They also have dual connection to quickly switch between devices and a fast charging system that in just 10 minutes gives them enough power for 4 hours of listening.

99 euro.
