Ahn Mo (61), who was indicted for falsifying bank account balance proofs along with Choi Eun-soon (77), the mother-in-law of President Yoon Seok-yeol, was sentenced to one year in prison.

The 13th Criminal Division of the Uijeongbu District Court today (27th) sentenced Ahn, who was charged with forgery of private documents, to one year in prison.

However, she was not arrested in court as there was no risk of escaping or destroying evidence.

The judge said, "The charges are fully acknowledged when considering the consistent statements of the accomplices and the fact that (criminal acts) coincide with the interests of the accused." He explained the reason for the sentencing, saying, "We took into account the past and the sentences of accomplices who have already been sentenced."

Ahn was indicted for falsifying a bank account balance certificate as if he had deposited 34.7 billion won in a bank in collusion with Choi in the process of purchasing land in Dochon-dong, Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province from April to October 2013.

There is also a suspicion of signing and registering a contract in the name of Mr. Ahn's son-in-law, etc., while buying the land in Dochon-dong.
