Police arrested a father who left a 13-month-old baby in a car with the ignition off in -5 degrees Celsius.

The Gyeonggi Southern Police Agency's Women's and Youth Crime Investigation Team arrested and investigated a father in his 40s on charges of leaving a 13-month-old baby in a car with the engine off in cold weather (violation of the Child Welfare Act).

Mr. A is accused of leaving his 13-month-old son in the back seat at around 7:10 pm yesterday (20th) after parking his car in the parking lot on the ground floor of an officetel in Gwonseon-gu, Suwon-si, turning off the engine.

At the time, a passer-by saw the baby alone in the car and reported it to the police, and the fire department and police who were dispatched forcibly opened the car door and rescued the baby.

Mr. A returned to the car about 40 minutes later and is known to have stated to the police that she "went to the convenience store."

The police believe that the statement of Mr. A is not clear and arrest her as a criminal and are investigating.

The police plan to find out how Mr. A left her son unattended.
