Starting tomorrow (21st), the four-day Lunar New Year holiday begins.

Since it is the first Lunar New Year holiday after social distancing has been lifted, many people are looking for their hometowns, and there are also people who have made travel plans that they have not been able to go to.

The changing mask regulations start on the 30th, so please have a good holiday.

So, from now on, we will connect our reporters who are out of the field one by one to see what the atmosphere is like ahead of the holiday season.

First, let's go to the Seoul Tollgate.

Reporter Sagong Seong-geun, the car has been running a lot since early today. How is the current situation?

<Reporter> The

highway congestion started at 10:00 am and reached its peak around 6:00 pm a little while ago.

Traffic has decreased a bit now as the cars on the way home from work are gone, but congestion on the way home is expected to continue throughout the morning.

If you leave Seoul now, it will take 5 hours and 30 minutes to Busan based on the toll booth.

It is expected that it will take 4 hours and 30 minutes to Daegu, 5 hours and 20 minutes to Gwangju, and 2 hours and 50 minutes to Gangneung.

This is a situation that takes 1-2 hours longer than usual.

We will explain in detail the situation of each major section while watching real-time highway CCTV.

First, it is at the entrance of the Seoul Tollgate on the Gyeongbu Expressway where I am.

As the collision accident overlaps, both sides are full of cars.

In the direction of Busan, vehicles are not speeding up to Singal IC.

Next is the Yeongdong Line near Yongin.

Cars are moving slowly in the lane toward Gangneung, biting their tails.

The Jungbu Expressway Majang and the Hobeop Junction area are also congested.

The Korea Expressway Corporation has observed that more than 5.2 million vehicles will move across the country today alone.

This is a 23% increase from last year's Lunar New Year holidays, when social distancing was in place.

It is expected that the way home will be more blocked during this four-day Lunar New Year holiday.

Traffic congestion is expected to peak tomorrow, especially between 11 a.m. and 12 noon, when toll waivers begin.

Roads are still slippery from yesterday's snow.

Please drive safely on the way home.
