A daycare teacher and director were convicted of physical and emotional abuse of daycare students.



Today (16th), Detective 2 of the Pohang Branch of the Daegu District Court (Chief Judge Kwon Soon-hyang) sentenced A, a daycare teacher charged with violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Child Abuse Crimes, to 1 year and 6 months in prison, and Director B, who was indicted on the same charge. He was sentenced to 6 months in prison and 2 years probation.



In addition, Mr. A was ordered to complete a 40-hour child abuse treatment program and restricted from employment at a child-related institution for 7 years, and Mr. B was ordered to complete a 40-hour child abuse treatment program and restricted from employment at a child-related institution for 3 years.



They are accused of abusing six children aged only 2 to 3 years old at an apartment daycare center in Nam-gu, Pohang.



From May 3 to July 14, 2021, nursery teacher A pulled his ear and laid it on the floor for the reason that 'the inmate didn't listen', and took a picture of the inmate's head with a mobile phone over 49 times. I was physically and emotionally abusive on a regular basis.



Director B also physically and emotionally abused the original students three times until May 25 of the same year, such as hitting the stomach with his hand when a 3-year-old child who was sleeping at the daycare did not wake up on May 4, 2021.



The judge, who looked at the CCTV footage of the daycare center and the condition of the victims, told those who stood in court, "As a daycare center operator and childcare teacher, I committed an abusive act even though I had the duty to protect children more carefully than anyone else, and the degree of the crime is not good." pointed out.



However, he revealed the reason for the sentencing, saying, "The sentence was decided in consideration of the fact that the damage was not restored and the fact that he was sorry for his mistakes."
