It was belatedly confirmed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs filed a lawsuit against MBC for corrective information regarding the controversy over profanity that occurred when President Yoon Seok-yeol visited New York to attend the UN General Assembly.

On December 19 of last year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs filed a lawsuit against MBC at the Seoul Western District Court demanding corrections.

Prior to this, in October of last year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs requested a correction to the Press Arbitration Commission against MBC, but mediation was not established as the two sides could not narrow their differences.

If mediation is not established, a lawsuit can be filed in the court afterwards.

An official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained the reason for the request for correction information explained to reporters at the time, saying, "The MBC's reports that were different from the facts had a negative impact, such as spreading negative public opinion about our country within allies and shaking public trust in our diplomacy." .

Regarding this, MBC said, "It is difficult to correct the report because it is not considered a false report."

Previously, MBC reported that President Yoon said at the time, "If these XXs don't approve in the National Assembly, what if Biden is embarrassed?"
