A father in his 30s who bruised the cheek of his three-year-old son who insisted on taking a nap with his mother was sentenced to prison.

Today (12th), the 9th detective (Judge Hwang Yong-nam) of the Western Branch of the Daegu District Court announced that he sentenced Mr. A (32) to one year in prison for charges such as violating the Child Welfare Act (child abuse).

He also ordered the completion of a 40-hour child abuse treatment program.

Mr. A was handed over to trial on July 10, 2021 at around 2 pm on charges of damaging the victim's body or harming his health and development.

When his son, who was only 3 years old at the time, complained, "I want to take a nap with my mother," it was investigated that Mr. A, who was angry, hit his son's left cheek so that it was bruised.

Immediately after the incident, Mr. A’s wife, Mr. B (27), took a picture of her son’s bruised cheek with a mobile phone, leaving evidence of her assault.

The bruises were intact in the photo, but considering the location, size, and shape of the wounds, it was confirmed that there was no cause other than intentional blows to leave such scars.

Mr. A's crime did not stop here.

He is also accused of assaulting Mr. B or breaking into a house on three occasions, including in July and October of that year.

In addition, the court made a temporary decision on Mr. A, saying, "I order a ban on contact with Mr. B within 100m of his residence," but Mr. A waited to see his son and he approached Mr. B. It is known.

Since then, the two have been confirmed for divorce in September of last year.

The judge pointed out, "Considering the age of the child and the circumstances surrounding the child, each crime by Mr. A is expected to have a very negative impact on the child's emotions."

At the same time, he revealed the reason for the sentencing, saying, "The fact that he was not forgiven by the victims and that he committed the crime without taking himself seriously even though he was booked several times for assaulting Mr. B during his marriage life and was sent to a home protection case."
