The 'Yonsei-ro car-free street', which comes to mind when thinking of Sinchon, returns to the road with cars.

However, there are voices opposing this.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it would temporarily allow vehicle traffic on Yonsei-ro, Shinchon, which was the first 'transit-only district', from the 20th to September.

Until now, only public transportation such as buses can be used on this road, and on weekends, it has been operated as a 'car-free street'.

For this reason, merchants in the Sinchon area have been steadily demanding the 'lifting of the transit zone', saying that the commercial district is shrinking due to lack of accessibility.

However, many civic groups and residents oppose the cancellation of the car-free streets, saying, "There is no evidence that the commercial district has been depressed because there are no cars" and "Memories of pedestrians are disappearing."

The Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to decide whether to allow vehicles to pass permanently after examining changes in traffic volume and sales.
