This is a derisory sum, for information that remains essential.

A hacker put a database up for sale on a forum frequented by hackers on Wednesday.

This contains the information of no less than 200 million Twitter subscribers, including their email addresses.

Selling price: 2 dollars, or a little less than 2 euros.

This is the base price to be able to obtain files from this platform, according to Numerama.

And to prove the veracity of the information offered, a sample of 10,000 identifiers has been made available, free of charge.

According to our colleagues, several email addresses would be compliant.

Files for sale on several forums

In total, 59 GB of data was put on sale with email addresses, names, pseudonyms, number of followers but also the dates of creation of accounts on the social network.

These six text files would already be offered on other forums.

And just because passwords aren't shared doesn't mean users are safe.

Phishing or scam messages could be sent to trick Internet users.

The platform has already faced other similar problems.

A researcher had already alerted in January 2022, after a data theft a month earlier.

He explained: "A vulnerability allows anyone to retrieve a Twitter ID by submitting a phone number/email even if the user in question has blocked this search in the privacy settings".

The rift had been resolved, but too late.
