An incumbent judge who again drove without a license while his license was revoked for drunk driving was sentenced to one month of suspension.

On the 4th, the Supreme Court ordered Judge A (43) of the Seoul Family Court to be suspended for one month in accordance with the Judicial Disciplinary Act on the 26th of last month.

Judge A was investigated for driving about 2 km without a license on a road in Seocho-gu, Seoul on April 8 last year.

Previously, he had his driver's license revoked on September 8, 2020 for drunk driving, and it was known that he was also suspended for a month.

The Supreme Court stated the reason for the disciplinary action as "damaging his dignity as a judge and lowering the prestige of the court."

On the other hand, the Constitution stipulates that judges cannot be removed from office unless they are impeached or sentenced to more than imprisonment.

However, judges are subject to disciplinary measures such as suspension, pay reduction, and reprimand in accordance with the Judicial Disciplinary Act.

Among them, suspension is the most severe punishment, and during this period, the execution of duties is suspended and remuneration is not paid.
