The Ministry of Health and Welfare announced today (3rd) that the parental benefit introduced to support the care of infant families will be paid from the 25th of this month.
Starting this month, 0-year-old children receive 700,000 won per month and 1-year-old children receive 350,000 won per month.
From next year, the amount of support will be expanded to KRW 1 million per month for children aged 0 and KRW 500,000 per month for children aged 1 year.
The parental benefit will be applied to children born after 2022.
When using a daycare center, both 0 and 1 year olds can receive a childcare voucher of KRW 514,000.
For children under the age of 0, the parental benefit of KRW 700,000 is greater than the childcare voucher support amount, so the difference of KRW 186,000 is received in cash.
To receive parental benefits for the first time, you must apply within 60 days of the child's birth date.
If you apply within 60 days of your birth, you will be supported retroactively from the month in which your birth date falls.
If you apply after 60 days of age, you need to be careful because you can receive it from the month in which the application date falls.
Application can be made by visiting the Eup/Myeon/Dong community service center of the child's resident registration address, Bokji-ro, or online at the Government 24 website.
You can also apply for parental benefits while registering the birth at the Happy Childbirth One-Stop Service.
In order to use a daycare center or full-day childcare service, you must apply for a change to childcare fee or full-day childcare service.
In the case of using full-day childcare services, the support amount varies depending on the household's income, so you can choose a support method that is more advantageous for each family.
As of December last year, families receiving infant allowance (300,000 won in cash or childcare fees per month) do not have to apply for parental allowance separately.
However, guardians of children under the age of 0 (born between February and December 2022) as of January this year who are attending a daycare center and are receiving childcare subsidies must transfer their bank account to receive the 186,000 won difference in parental wages to welfare by the 15th of this month. You must register on the website or at the community center.
Parental benefits will be deposited into the application account on the 25th of each month starting this month.
If you do not receive the application on the 25th of the month due to late application, you will receive it along with the parental benefit for the following month.
