An accident vehicle was found abandoned near Gwangju Metropolitan City Hall, and the police launched an investigation.

The driver was not present at the time of discovery, but is known to have disappeared after fleeing.

According to the Gwangju Seobu Police Station today (3rd), a report was received that an SUV had rolled down a hill through a fence behind the Gwangju City Hall in Chipyeong-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju, around 10:00 am.

The accident was near the city hall's air-conditioning system, and if the SUV had crashed into it, the city hall's heating would have been cut off.

It was determined that there were no casualties in the accident, but the city hall fence and trees fell.

It is believed that the driver was also injured as the vehicle was severely damaged.

The problem is that there is no CCTV at the scene of the accident, so it is not easy to grasp the accident process.

Police estimate that the driver left the scene immediately after the accident after the SUV broke a fence the night before and crashed into a hill 3 to 4 meters below the air-conditioning system.

It has been confirmed that the vehicle is a corporate vehicle owned by an individual operator, and the police are contacting them by assuming the identity of the driver, but are not answering the phone.

A police official said, "As soon as the driver is confirmed, we plan to investigate whether he was driving under the influence and the exact circumstances of the accident."
