As the law changes from the new year of 2023, there are quite a few things that change in our lives.

When you go to the mart and buy food, you should now take care of the expiration date instead of the expiration date.

Usually, I wonder if food that has passed its 'expiration date' should be thrown away even if it is not spoiled.

In order to alleviate this concern, the 'consumption date indication system' will be implemented from this year.

This is to reduce the throwaway of edible food that has passed its expiration date by clearly informing consumers of the expiration date when they can be safely consumed.

The consumption period is up to twice as long as the expiration date. According to the reference values disclosed by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, tofu increases by 6 days, from 17 days to 23 days, and ham increases by 19 days, from 38 days to 57 days.

This means you can safely eat them for 6 days and 19 more days, respectively, past the expiration date.

However, milk is not subject to the consumption period until 2031 because it is easy to deteriorate if refrigeration is not strictly observed in an open refrigerator.
