Lead] Measures to strengthen quarantine for travelers arriving from China to South Korea began yesterday (2nd), with corona testing before and after entry.

Short-term stayers can go out of the airport only after undergoing a PCR test at the airport and confirming negative, and about 1 out of 10 short-term stayers who have received test results so far have been confirmed.

Yesterday, 1,092 people entered the country via nine flights from China.

By 5 p.m. yesterday, 208 people were classified as short-term residents and underwent PCR tests, and 13 out of 106 test results were confirmed.

Accurate statistics, including all PCR results from passengers on the last flight from Shanghai, will be released today.

The confirmed entrants were moved to an isolation facility near the airport.

From the day after tomorrow, you can board the aircraft by obtaining a voice confirmation in advance.

From September to December of last year, an average of 1,100 arrivals from China, including both Koreans and long-term residents, per day.

A similar number entered the country yesterday, but it seems that the number of short-term residents will not increase significantly immediately due to visa restrictions.

Up to 550 people can be tested at three inspection centers at Incheon International Airport, so it is evaluated that the inspection capacity is not lacking.

However, on the first day of implementation, when entrants from China were guided to the inspection site, there was confusion as passengers from other countries were mixed.

Prime Minister Han Deok-soo and Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Ji Young-mi said they would protect the public with utmost vigilance after touring the PCR test sites yesterday afternoon.
