They were "in possession of nine harmless gas cylinders" and "had no firing system", another police source told AFP.

Deminers from the central laboratory of the Paris police headquarters were dispatched to the scene.

The Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, asked the Paris police chief, Laurent Nuñez, to strengthen the security of the stations of the capital, indicated the entourage of the minister.

This arrest comes on the eve of the New Year weekend, for which all the trade unions lifted their strike notice last week.
