Today (29th) around 5:20 am in front of a shopping mall in Jamsil Station, Seoul, a man in his 60s set himself on fire and suffered severe burns on his face and hands.

Immediately after the man set his body on fire, sprinklers in the ceiling were activated and the fire did not spread to the surroundings.

After receiving a report from an eyewitness, firefighters dispatched to the scene performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the unconscious man and transferred him to the hospital.

The fire was extinguished around 5:40 am, 20 minutes after the fire.

Nearby CCTV captured a man carrying gasoline in the direction of the location.

The police plan to investigate the circumstances surrounding the self-immolation attempt as soon as he regains his stability.
