The owner of the dog was put on trial for allegedly burying his dog alive.

The Jeju District Prosecutor's Office announced that it had prosecuted dog owner A in his 30s and acquaintance B in his 40s without detention for burying a living dog on the ground.

The two are accused of burying a poodle alive in an empty lot near Dogeuncheon, Naedo-dong, Jeju-si on April 19th at 3:00 am.

This poodle was found about 6 hours later, around 8:50 am, with all parts buried except for the nose.

Mr. A, who lives near the place of the incident, initially stated to the police that he had "lost his dog," but later overturned his statement, saying, "I thought it was dead and buried it."

However, as a result of checking the closed circuit (CC) TV and vehicle black box video, the police confirmed that the poodle was alive when it was buried.

It was found that Mr. A was accompanied by Mr. B, an acquaintance, because it was not easy to commit the crime alone.

An official from the prosecution said, "We decided to prosecute because we judged the matter to be serious."

The poodle was confirmed to be living a new life with a new owner after receiving treatment at the Animal Protection Center under the Jeju Animal Hygiene Laboratory and recovering its health.
