A prison sentence was sentenced to a man in his 50s who indiscriminately assaulted a passerby on the street less than a month after he was released from prison.

According to the legal community today (29th), the 11th Criminal Division of the Gwangju District Court (Judge Park Hyun-soo) announced that it sentenced Mr. A (54), who was charged with robbery, to 5 years in prison.

Mr. A was charged with indiscriminately assaulting Mr. B (57), who was passing in front of a terminal located in Gwangju, at around 5:00 in the morning on May 24 and stealing a handbag containing his belongings.

At the time, Mr. A was known to have forcibly taken the handbag containing cash, credit cards, identification cards, and mobile phones after subduing Mr. B by swinging his fists and feet so that he could not resist.

As a result of the investigation, it was revealed that Mr. A had already had several criminal convictions.

Previously, he was sentenced to 10 months in prison for special injury and was known to have completed less than a month.

In response, the judge pointed out to Mr. A in court, "The victim not only suffered physical damage from the 8 weeks of pre-treatment, but also suffered extreme mental pain, such as feeling anxiety and fear of strangers."

At the same time, he explained the reason for the sentencing, saying, "The accused has a history of receiving criminal punishment several times before, and since he committed another crime during the period of recidivism, severe punishment is inevitable."
