The black night sky was covered with hazy smoke.

It is difficult to distinguish even an inch from the smoke that comes out without a bird to rest.

The fire started around 0:28 in the morning yesterday.

At a municipal waste landfill facility in Yangyang-gun, a fire of unknown cause has continued for more than a day.

The fire continues to catch on to 20,000 tons of waste, and it is difficult to catch the flames because it is difficult to secure visibility due to the thick smoke.

At one time, the fire spread to nearby hills, burned 0.25 ha of forest, and was extinguished in about 1 hour and 30 minutes, preventing further spread.

[Kim Kyung-bun/Nearby residents: We have a little bad respiratory system.

My uncle is also sick, so I'm a little worried.]

Yangyang-gun said that it is concerned about the generation of toxic gas from this fire, and asked the residents to refrain from going out and wear a mask.

The fire department believes that the size of the landfill facility is large and the structure is entangled, so it will take a considerable amount of time to extinguish.

[Jeon Chang-gyu/Yangyang Fire Department Response General Manager: I can't conclude right now.

It's hard to get into the car now.

We will do our best to evolve quickly as soon as possible.] The

fire department and forest authorities are carrying out preliminary watering operations on nearby hills and surroundings to prevent further spread, while adding helicopters and other equipment and personnel as soon as the day dawns. We plan to use it to extinguish the fire.
