It was found that next year, the highest monthly insurance premium for workers who subscribe to health insurance will reach about 4 million won.

This is an increase of about 260,000 won from this year.

Those who have to pay an amount equivalent to the monthly salary of an ordinary office worker as health insurance premiums are very few super-high-income office workers who earn more than 100 million won from their monthly salary alone, or more than 50 million won from ancillary income such as interest, dividends, and rental income.

According to the amendment to the ‘Announcement on the Upper and Lower Limits of Monthly Health Insurance Premiums’ recently announced by the Ministry of Health and Welfare today (27th), the upper limit of monthly premiums to be applied from January to December 2023 is 7,307,100 per month this year. It will increase by 515,460 won from won to 7,822,560 won.

The monthly premium amount of 7,822,560 won per month, which is the upper limit of monthly remuneration, is well over 105 million won when converted into monthly salary.

Health insurance premiums for occupational health insurance policyholders are monthly insurance premiums (remuneration premiums) calculated on the monthly salary received from the company and monthly income premiums (insurance premiums other than remuneration) imposed on comprehensive taxable income (interest, dividends, rental income, etc. combined) that are not remuneration. However, there is an upper limit to these insurance premiums.

Unlike tax, health insurance is social insurance, so it is to ensure that insurance premiums do not go up infinitely no matter how much income or property you have.

In accordance with the Enforcement Decree of the Health Insurance Act (Article 32), the upper limit is 30 times (15 times for local subscribers) the average insurance premium of an employee in the year in which the insurance premium is imposed, reflecting socio-economic conditions such as wage increases, and is adjusted little by little every year. It's done.

Of these, the monthly compensation insurance premium is borne by the company in half, so the upper limit of half of the actual payment by the super-high-income worker himself will be 3,653,550 won per month this year and 3,911,280 won per month next year.

A monthly increase of 257,730 won will increase the annual cost of 3,092,760 won.

The lower limit of monthly insurance premiums will also increase from 19,500 won to 19,780 won per month this year.

As of November of this year, there were 3,738 occupational health insurance policyholders who paid the maximum amount (3,653,550 won per month) of monthly insurance premiums.

This amounted to 0.019% of all 19,624,000 employee subscribers excluding dependents.

The upper limit of monthly income insurance premiums will also rise from 3,653,550 won per month to 3,911,280 won per month this year.

When the upper limit of 3,911,280 won per month is converted into monthly income, it exceeds 54 million won.

This means that he earns more than 54 million won per month with only other ancillary income, such as financial income or rental income, excluding his monthly salary.

Since 2011, insurance premiums based on monthly income have been levied only when global taxable income other than monthly wages exceeds 72 million won per year. ), the standard income was lowered to 'exceed 34 million won per year', and from September of this year, it was further lowered to 'exceed 20 million won per year'.

As of November of this year, the number of workplace subscribers whose comprehensive taxable income exceeded 20 million won (monthly average of 1.67 million won) and paid insurance premiums separately for monthly income was 563,491 people.

This corresponds to 2.87% of all employee subscribers.

Among them, there were 4,804 ultra-high-income office workers who paid the upper limit (3,653,550 won per month).

It was 0.024% of all employee subscribers paying health insurance premiums.
